Busy Day Today

Still working on Futuristic Motherhood stuff, I had planned to be done this past weekend but other things got in the way. Sending out the email to the other writers today though! It’s extremely frustrating to me that this is taking so long, so I can only imagine how they feel. In other news I got invited to help start a local writing group. I had to decline because my time is over scheduled as it is, but I will participate as much as I can by going to a meeting at least once a month. They are planning to meet once a week! Who has time for that? not me. But I am excitied about getting to know other writers close to me.

Futuristic Motherhood Update

Futuristic Motherhood: Alternative Visions of Mothering is an anthology of speculative fiction stories about the future of motherhood.
To my sincerest regret and embarrassment I have to shelve the Futuristic Motherhood project for now. I do not know when, at this point, when I will be able to publish it. I had no back-up for a printing mishap, and am still waiting to be refunded from that printer in order to publish it through another company. I do apologize for not keeping you all updated. Sincerely, Trula

Recovery & Work

I had a really bad reaction to the medicine for my ear infection, I have been throwing up the past few days, it’s been total grossness. I go back to work tomorrow and will be either at the job or my bookstore getting things together. I also have a ton of work to do on the Futuristic Motherhood book project that is way overdue, most notably letters to all the contributing writers. ah well, at least i got some rest. I detest being sick, it really throws me off. Lo, onward!

Mama Specific Productions is seeking submissions of speculative fiction stories. For the purposes of this book speculative fiction includes science fiction, fantasy, mystery and any sub-genres. The theme is motherhood in the future. Some things to prompt or give you ideas to start with: What do you imagine the function of motherhood to be? How do you think the image of motherhood will change? How do you think the image of motherhood will stay the same? What possible customs, norms or laws will be in place in the future that would have an impact on changing or affecting mothers? How will science and technology affect pregnancy, birth, and child rearing? How might full social equality affect childcare in the home and workplace? How does a lack of social equality in a highly technological society affect pregnancy, birth, and childcare? How about in a future culture with a highly evolved social order but low technology?

Maximum story length is 7,500 words. You may submit more than one story but only one story will be selected per writer. Please include a bio up to 500 words.

Reprints: If you’re sending us a reprint please include the last place your story was published. Also let us know if your story is currently available in any other online venues or publications. We are paying you for the right to print your story in this book. You retain full rights to your story even if it is new and can reprint it elsewhere.
