Your comments on my posts are invaluable feedback. Comments let me know what people think and feel about what I write. I also get an idea of what people want featured on this blog. This helps me to make this blog the interactive resource I want it be instead of me just running my mouth. If you have a blog, commenting here will help you as well because you will get traffic coming to your blog from your link. As long as you don’t post anything hateful or just a spam comment, I will approve your comments and leave them up.

A blog with ads is a way to make money from your site. A lot of people have made good money with google ads, affiliate ads and direct selling ads. I have google ads on my site but haven’t made much yet, but I have made good money with direct ads and affiliate ads.

A blog is an easy way to add pages to your site as you can configure it so that every post has it’s own page. You could do a photography blog where you do a post a day about what you’re currently working on, cameras, photography news, answer photography questions, or whatever. The more posts you have the heavier a ‘footprint’ your blog has on the net, which means it’s likely to come up higher ranked during searches for whatever topic your blog is on. Here is a blog that explains it all with tips and stuff:
http://www.problogger.com

If you have your own domain any blog platform you use you can just configure it to your domain. I use blogger.com. A lot of people who blog professionally prefer wordpress but I like blogger because it is a snap to use.

I have a bunch of blogs including this one on various subjects, all hosted on one domain and which link back to one of my books or zines or my main site:
http://mspmedia.net

I’ve been tooling around the net reading tips on how to make a blog profitable. It seems to me the blogs that make a lot of money are blogs that are about blogging for money! LOL! I find this both fascinating and incredibly funny. Anyway they all pretty much say the same thing: build your site traffic and the money will follow. One of the ways to build traffic to your blog is to post interesting and informative content often, every day if possible. This is something I’ve been meaning to do for awhile anyway, and now that I’m opening Texture I definitely have the motivation to make more money.

Remember my new day job? I couldn’t keep that pace up as I was driving nearly an hour each way. I didn’t have hardly any time for my real work. I’m working at home now, which gives me at least 10 hours extra a week to blog. So get ready for daily posts, hope you can handle it.
