Thing-A-Day 2/3/10: Earrings

by Trula on February 3, 2010 · No Comments

Today I made earrings. I had some sterling silver post earrings I never wore, so added buttons to them then put a little denim on top of the buttons. I think I used too much Gorilla glue, will have to watch it next time. Still, I like them!

Thing-A-Day 2/2/10: Mittens

by Trula on February 2, 2010 · No Comments

Today I made mittens. I had some leftover fabric from when I made the kids; quilts this past Christmas and decided to use it for my mittens. This fabric is so soft and fluffy and warm. I put the fluffy side on the inside. The cuffs I reconstructed from an old jacket my sons used [...]

Thing-A-Day 2/1/10: New Logo

by Trula on February 1, 2010 · No Comments

I’m doing <a href=”http://thing-a-day.com/”>Thing-A-Day 2010</a>. Today I made a new logo for my biz. or rather an updated one, I’m still using the hand-drawn flower motif but in shades of blue now instead of different colors. Will tweak in a bit.

How to figure out where all the people like me are hiding

by Trula on December 22, 2009 · 2 Comments

“I learned to recognize the qualities I admire in myself in others.” How I did it: I figure out where all the people like me are hiding…they are hiding in plain sight doing the things I like to do! So I did it by going places that involve the things I am interested in doing. [...]

The Artist’s Way Week 1

by Trula on December 5, 2009 · No Comments

I mentioned before that I am doing the Artist’s Way, an awesome book by Julia Cameron that helps one tap into creativity and lead a creative life. I first read it about 9 years ago, and it totally rocked my world and helped me to name and claim that I am a writer and to [...]

Creating the Market

by Trula on November 11, 2009 · No Comments

Difficult as it is to remember, it is our work that creates the market, not the market that creates our work. ~Julia Cameron Lightbulb! I am re-doing The Artist’s Way and when I read this it struck me with it’s truth. This is so true. I think a big part of the reason why I [...]

Why Would I Want to be Famous?

by Trula on November 7, 2009 · No Comments

I can barely stand for people to look at me now. I think if I were famous, even a little bit, it would drive me crazy. There comes a point with fame where you almost have to be rich just to live a normal life…for example today during one of my sons’ birthday party we [...]

Staccato: Microfiction

by Trula on September 30, 2009 · No Comments

This looks interesting: Staccato is all about microfiction. Launched in Athens, Georgia, in 2005 as a semiannual print magazine, the editors soon realized that their small print-runs weren’t enough and they could deliver microfiction to more readers more efficiently (not to mention cheaper) if they focused their efforts online. Relaunched in 2009 out of Brooklyn, [...]

Time For a Trula Pic

by Trula on September 20, 2009 · No Comments

I’m not doing the daily pic project anymore but every now and then I like to take a photo of myself. Seems like I feel most inclined to do so when I have pressing work to do. Avoiding work by taking pics of myself *lame* even still, I like these two. Back to work, I’m [...]

Pennies Add Up

by Trula on September 19, 2009 · 1 Comment

I needed this big plastic jar for something, so decided to take the pennies inside up to the grocery store which has a Coinstar machine. Coinstars, in case you don’t know, are machines that count out your change. Then you get either a gift certificate for full value or the cash minus 9%. I was [...]

Thank You President Carter

by Trula on September 16, 2009 · 2 Comments

President Carter made recent remarks regarding some of the virulent opposition against President Obama, in short saying that he believes some of it is rooted in racism. On the Morning Joe show today hosts Joe Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski flat-out refuted this to be even a possibility. I watched the Morning Joe show this [...]

Are Creative People Overly Sensitive?

by Trula on September 15, 2009 · 2 Comments

“The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him, a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. [...]

Creative Spotlight: Artist John Leon

by Trula on September 9, 2009 · No Comments

I like to blog about other creative people often. Sculptor John Leon lives in my hometown of Cincinnati, and his work is very good. I can’t recall how I came across his work, I think someone had a pic of one of his statues on flickr. More info about John from his site: He started [...]

Still working on Futuristic Motherhood stuff, I had planned to be done this past weekend but other things got in the way. Sending out the email to the other writers today though! I’m a Sudoku Fan

by Trula on August 23, 2009 · No Comments

I just got into Sudoku this year, thanks to my husband. He was always doing the ones in the newspaper, after awhile it piqued my curiosity. I tend not to like puzzles of this sort because I am a very slow thinker, but I do like numbers and sudoku is actually quite fun. It took [...]

Sleep Interrupts My Work

by Trula on July 8, 2009 · No Comments

Lately I have been feeling resentful of having to sleep. Sleep really does feel like sometimes like one long interruption of stuff I want to do. Sometimes I’ll push myself writing until I’m ragged, until I have to sleep. This is not good, and could trigger insomnia. I used to have terrible insomnia for years [...]
