Pennies Add Up

Pennies trula.org

I needed this big plastic jar for something, so decided to take the pennies inside up to the grocery store which has a Coinstar machine. Coinstars, in case you don’t know, are machines that count out your change. Then you get either a gift certificate for full value or the cash minus 9%. I was going to roll up the pennies and take them to the bank but was pressed for time, and I knew I’d just forget about it. Anyway I figured it looked like about $6-7 dollars to me, so whatever. Do you know, this turned out to be over $18 worth of pennies??? My word. I opted for the cash and after coinstar took their bite it came out to $16.64. Not bad at all, considering I thought it would be at most seven bucks. This was the jar I’d been tossing my pennies into all year. Now I’m a total penny scrounge LOL. I wonder if I can double that by next year? It’s on :)
