I find that I get much more work done when I treat my writing as a job and stick to a schedule. It’s fall again which means adjusting to the school year, and my work schedule has changed. I also have to factor in my gym time too. But just off the top of my head I figure I can write roughly 10 hours a week, 15 if you count my blog(s) writing. This is a little over 2 hours a day, and I figure one of those hours is purely time on the fly; writing in my notebook in bits of time like breaks at work, waiting while on hold on the phone, etc. Little minute increments that add up. Then the other hour and 15 minutes I need to commit to sitting down and doing it. I already wake up early to exercise, so I think I will do it in the hour after dinner when my sons do their homework. That way I won’t feel like I’m taking time from them. That’s during the week, then Sat/Sun I can do the rest of the time while at my bookstore.
Do you have a schedule? How do you find time to create? When do you do it?
