How I Use Twitter

I’ve been on twitter for a while (I’m @trula) and never really felt the need to explain how I use it, but since the Ashton Kutcher/Oprah twitter show there has been a flurry of activity on twitter and so many new followers…so here we go. I basically use twitter to talk to other creative folks. Also friends/people I know IRL/offline. If you are a marketer or social media expert, I probably will not follow you. If you are a business or tweet only about your business, I probably will not follow you. If you only re-tweet others, I probably will not follow you. If your link is to a porn/booty-wah site, I probably will not follow you. If your link is to a religious site, I probably will not follow you. If you have tons of followers and no/very little interaction with them, I probably will not follow you. If it seems like you’re just fishing for followers, I probably will not follow you.

I know I’m so snotty right! ha ha

I will probably respond if you @me, I like talking to folks, and you do not have to follow me to @me. BUT – keep in mind I may not @you back right away. I do not keep up with twitter on my cell phone, that is just too intrusive for me. So I will not see your tweets or @s until I am online. Some days I am on more than others, and some days not at all.

Oh yah, I hardly ever say good morning. That seems to bother some folks, so if you need that sort of greeting, be prepared not to get it from me. I like to laugh/be amused, so be prepared also to see LOL and ha ha and smiley faces from me often. I rarely re-tweet, and rarely join groups/causes. I sometimes post links to my various blogs, projects, and photos. I often post random thoughts. and, I’m kinda slow. Overall, I can’t stand lots of contact or stimulation, so I’m trying to keep my follow list relatively small…only folks I will actually read and/or interact with. So please don’t get all offended if I don’t follow you, it really is nothing personal against you. and no, I won’t get mad if you unfollow me. I’m not about racking up followers, not at all, and quite realize I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.
